Jon Batiste, the talented Grammy and Oscar-winning singer, is set to perform the National Anthem before Super Bowl LIX, where the Philadelphia Eagles will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs.
This moment will carry a lot of emotion for Batiste, especially since he and his wife, Suleika Jaouad, have been navigating tough times together. They didn’t attend the Grammy Awards recently, even though Batiste won big.
Their film, “American Symphony,” picked up two awards, but the couple celebrated at home. The reason for their absence was Jaouad’s battle with cancer, which has returned. Despite the tough news, they both appeared happy and grateful for the recognition.
Jaouad shared on Instagram, “On this lazy Sunday, life is good!” She expressed pride in winning the Grammy for Best Music Film and thanked everyone involved in the project. “We couldn’t make it to the ceremony but we’re beaming love from our couch to yours,” she wrote, showing their positive spirits amidst challenges.
This Grammy win came shortly after Jaouad’s announcement about her cancer. She reflected on her journey with cancer on Instagram, sharing how it can be easy to feel hopeless, but also highlighting moments of joy in difficult times. “Our forever work is to learn to hold the brutal and beautiful in the same palm,” she wrote.
Following her post, many followers offered their support, sending love and prayers to the couple. As of now, it’s unclear if Jaouad will be able to attend the Super Bowl to see her husband perform the anthem.
