CNN — The nominees for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame have just been announced. It’s an exciting mix of artists, honoring their contributions to music.
To make the nomination list, artists or bands must have released their first commercial record at least 25 years before the nomination year. The selection process considers their impact on music, their influence on future musicians, and the longevity of their careers.
This year, eight nominees are on the ballot for the first time. They are:
- Bad Company
- The Black Crowes
- Chubby Checker
- Joe Cocker
- Billy Idol
- Maná
- Outkast
- Phish
John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, praised these nominees. He mentioned how they each bring a unique style and attitude that resonates with generations of music fans.
An international panel of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music professionals will vote on the nominees. The final inductees will be announced in late April, including special committee categories for musical influence, musical excellence, and a non-performer award.
The induction ceremony will take place in Los Angeles this fall, with the exact date and ticket details to be shared later.
