Meet Alexis Schneider: Rising Star in Sports You Need to Know About!

BISMARCK, N.D. – I first met Alexis Schneider during football season. I mistakenly thought she was a two-time state champion wrestler. But when I asked her, she confidently corrected me. “Three,” she said without hesitation. That’s the spirit we see in her.

Chris Wiegel, the head coach for Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter wrestling, said, “I know the other girl is in trouble when Alexis steps onto the mat.” She truly shines in the world of wrestling.

Wiegel praises her focus and drive. “She knows how to get the job done,” he explained. Alexis herself describes her wrestling style as aggressive. “I don’t just hold back. I believe I can take down anyone in the state,” she said.

Before girls wrestling became a recognized sport, Alexis competed alongside boys. “It was tough, but I enjoyed it,” she reflected. Her record against male wrestlers? An impressive 35 wins and 17 losses. “Beating the boys was a fun challenge for me,” she added.

Now that girls wrestling is officially supported, Alexis has racked up numerous wins and titles. Most importantly, she loves watching the sport grow. “When I started, we only had a handful of girls. Now we have 10 or 12 on the team. It’s exciting to be part of this growth,” she remarked.

Her coach admires her technical skills and determination. “She’s always thinking ahead, ready to challenge herself with different opponents,” Wiegel noted. This adaptability makes coaching her a unique experience.

Alexis is looking to continue her wrestling career in college, though her exact plans are still up in the air. With her attitude and talent, there’s no doubt she’ll find success wherever she goes.
