Palmeiras is back on track! The three-time champions took a big step toward the knockout stage of the Paulistão-2025 by defeating Internacional de Limeira 3-0. This match, held at Major José Levy Sobrinho, kept Inter without any wins in the competition.

Goals from Maurício, Flaco López, and Gustavo Gómez sealed the victory for Palmeiras, who played with a squad full of talented foreign players.

Maurício’s goal early in the match showcased his growing importance to the team. He skillfully slid the ball past the defender to open the scoring in the 16th minute, thanks to a fantastic setup from Gustavo Gómez.

While the first half saw Palmeiras dominate, Inter de Limeira did find some chances as the game progressed, especially after they switched coaches. However, their efforts were largely thwarted due to a shaky performance.

The turning point came just before halftime when Veiga’s accurate corner kick found Flaco López’s head, doubling the lead for Palmeiras just before the break.

In the second half, Inter had no choice but to push forward. They created some dangerous situations but couldn’t capitalize. Gustavo Gómez then struck again in the 67th minute, extending Palmeiras’ lead and diminishing any hope for Inter.

Despite a few more near misses from Palmeiras, the match ended with three goals in favor of the Verdão.

Currently, Palmeiras sits in third place with 16 points, while Internacional de Limeira is at the bottom of Group A with just six points, looking perilously close to relegation.

Both teams will be back in action this Sunday. Inter will take on Velo Clube in a crucial match, while Palmeiras will face Sao Paulo in the classic Choque-Rei at Allianz.
