Students aspiring to enter the medical field face many hurdles. From strict academic standards to applying for professional schools, the journey can be tough. Thankfully, the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences offers support through its Pre-Health Advisement Office. Recently, they’ve introduced a new resource to help students even more: the Pre-Health Scholars Den.
The Pre-Health Scholars Den is backed by the Wesley Tyra Mizutani Endowed Fund, created by USC Dornsife alumnus Wesley Mizutani. This fund aims to enhance wellness and mental health programs within the Pre-Health Advisement Office.
“We aimed to create a space focused on students, where they can find support and make connections. I think we’ve done that,” says Molly Lancaster, head of the Pre-Health Advisement Office. The den offers daily peer advising and wellness programs, providing a friendly atmosphere for students to study, share their experiences, and encourage one another.
So far, the den has hosted a welcome-back event in the spring and various wellness activities, with even more planned for the upcoming semester. This space is designed to help students thrive both academically and personally, fostering a sense of community among future healthcare professionals.
