Warwick Davis Honors Late Wife with Heartfelt Dedication of BAFTA Film Fellowship Award

Warwick Davis, the beloved British actor known for his roles in films like *Willow* and the *Harry Potter* series, recently received a Bafta Fellowship award. During an emotional acceptance speech, he dedicated the honor to his late wife, Samantha, who passed away last March.

Feeling overwhelmed, Davis expressed gratitude for the recognition. He humorously remarked, “This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I’ve been in *Star Wars*.” He reflected on the challenges he has faced since losing Samantha, saying, “Life has been pretty tough.” He credited the support of their children for helping him through the hard times.

As he thanked others, Davis became emotional, particularly when mentioning Ralph Fiennes, who played Voldemort. He noted that Fiennes helped him “laugh and love again.” His inspiring message included encouragement for anyone with dreams to share their stories: “Go for it; the world needs your vision.” Tom Felton, who portrayed Draco Malfoy in *Harry Potter*, presented the award to Davis, praising him for being a joyful presence on set.

In a delightful twist, Davis shared how he found out about his Bafta honors. He was on the toilet when he received the email, initially suspecting it could be a scam. Once he confirmed it was genuine, he excitedly told his family, including their dog!

Warwick Davis was born with a rare bone disorder, spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, which results in dwarfism. He began his acting career at just 11 years old as an Ewok in *Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi*. This role opened doors for him, leading to his iconic role in *Willow* and various other fantasy adventures, including *Labyrinth* with David Bowie and adaptations of C.S. Lewis’s *Narnia* stories.

Aside from fantasy films, Davis is well-known for his work in the horror-comedy *Leprechaun* series and for portraying Professor Flitwick in the *Harry Potter* films. He has appeared in numerous TV shows, like Ricky Gervais’s *Extras*, and has hosted game shows like *Tenable*. His versatility continues as he also runs a talent agency for actors below five feet and above seven feet tall and founded the Reduced Height Theatre Company.

Davis, along with Samantha, co-founded the charity Little People UK, supporting people with dwarfism. His contributions to advocacy and his art have earned him a membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
