Beverly Hills, Mich — Art from five talented Brandon Middle School students will be featured at the Michigan Art Education Association Region Seven exhibit at Detroit Country Day School, located at 22305 W. 13 Mile Road, Beverly Hills. The exhibition will open with a reception and parent open house on February 26 from 5-7 p.m. This event will showcase artwork from 38 schools across the region.
Jody Daniels, the Visual Fine Arts teacher at Brandon Middle School, shared that each Arts teacher may submit up to five pieces per grade level. A key part of the submission is the Artist Statement, where each student describes their creative process. This statement is essential, as judges evaluate both the artwork and the thought behind it.
The artists from Brandon Middle School whose work will be displayed are Nova Wolfe, Addison Stamper, Zoey Siljanovski, Ziva Swindle, and Owen Rochester. Their creations will be exhibited alongside other regional entries from all over Oakland County. Some selected artworks may even go on to the state-level exhibition, which features the top 100 pieces in Michigan.
Notably, the judges will select which pieces will advance to the state show before the open house. However, the results won’t be announced that night. The focus will be on celebrating all the participating artists for their hard work and creativity. After the exhibition, artwork selected for the state show will be moved to its new location, while the rest will be returned to the teachers.
The state exhibition is set to begin on March 17 in Adrian, offering another platform for these young artists to shine.
