Olivia Munn Opens Up About Rejecting a Seven-Figure NDA Offer After ‘Traumatic’ Experience on Set

Olivia Munn recently shared her experiences on Monica Lewinsky’s podcast, Reclaiming. She discussed a troubling incident from a film set that she found so distressing that she filed complaints with the studio.

During the episode, Munn explained that this event occurred at the start of the #MeToo movement, a time when many were speaking out against sexual misconduct in Hollywood. While she did not name the film or studio involved, she emphasized the seriousness of what happened.

“Things happened on this movie set that were really not OK. It was so traumatic that I had to file complaints,” Munn said. She revealed that she was offered over a million dollars to accept an apology from the studio, but it came with a nondisclosure agreement (NDA). Munn found this offer unacceptable.

“It felt so wrong to me,” she said. She was concerned that signing the NDA would make people doubt her claims, especially since many were scrutinizing those who settled for money in silence. Munn feared the studio would leak details that could undermine her credibility.

After consulting with her lawyers, Munn decided not to sign the NDA. “I felt so proud when I walked out,” she reflected. “I didn’t even consider negotiating. I only thought about how disrespectful that was.” Laughing, she noted that California soon after made NDAs related to sexual misconduct illegal.

Throughout her career, Munn has been a vocal advocate against sexual harassment. She previously accused director Brett Ratner of misconduct, recalling how he allegedly exposed himself to her on the set of his film After the Sunset. She had initially mentioned this experience in her 2010 book but didn’t disclose Ratner’s name until much later.

In another incident during the making of Predators, Munn alerted 20th Century Fox about director Shane Black hiring a registered sex offender. The studio took action, removing the offender’s scenes after Munn reported him.
