Exciting New ‘Avatar’ Sequel Series ‘Seven Havens’ Announced by Nickelodeon: Discover What Happens After ‘Legend of Korra’

Nickelodeon is expanding the universe of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” with a new animated series called “Avatar: Seven Havens.”

This fresh 2D series will feature 26 half-hour episodes, split into two seasons. It arrives just in time for the original show’s 20th anniversary, which first aired on February 21, 2005.

“Seven Havens” is created by the original masterminds, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, under the Avatar Studios banner at Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank. Production is already underway.

The series is set in a world torn apart by a huge disaster. A young Earthbender discovers that she is the new Avatar after Korra. But in this perilous time, being the Avatar is seen as a curse rather than a blessing. She and her long-lost twin must uncover their past while facing threats from both humans and spirits. Their mission? To save the Seven Havens before civilization crumbles.

DiMartino and Konietzko reflected, “When we created the original series, we never thought we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new chapter is filled with fantasy and mystery, featuring a whole new cast of vibrant characters. Get ready for an epic adventure!”

Alongside DiMartino and Konietzko, Ethan Spaulding serves as executive producer, with Sehaj Sethi as co-executive producer.

Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, praised the “Avatar” series for its rich storytelling and compelling characters. “We’re excited to explore this next chapter with a story envisioned by the original creators,” she said.

This marks the third animated series in the “Avatar” franchise. Nickelodeon previously aired “Avatar: The Legend of Korra” for four seasons from 2012 to 2014. Fans can also look forward to an animated film set for release in January 2026, focusing on Aang and his friends, featuring a star-studded voice cast, including Dave Bautista and Jessica Matten.

Meanwhile, Netflix is working on a live-action adaptation of “The Last Airbender,” though DiMartino and Konietzko left the project early due to creative differences.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original series, Paramount is launching a variety of new “Avatar” content, including digital shorts, live events, merchandise, and games.
