Controversy in Nassau County: Former ‘Ugly Betty’ and Hallmark Star Arrested for Assault and Spitting Incidents

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – Eric Mabius, a 53-year-old TV actor, was arrested early Thursday after an incident at a local bar.

The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office reported that the altercation took place at The Goat on Lofton Square Court. Mabius and a 40-year-old woman were both drunk and causing a scene.

Witnesses said that after the bartender repeatedly asked the woman to leave, both she and Mabius began spitting on other patrons.

Things escalated when Mabius allegedly pushed another woman to the ground and grabbed her hair.

A bystander intervened and pulled Mabius away from the woman. When deputies arrived, they described Mabius as becoming increasingly aggressive and uncooperative, refusing to stay seated while they investigated.

At one point, Mabius tried to walk past a deputy, leading to his arrest for resisting without violence.

“This kind of behavior will not be tolerated in our community,” Sheriff Bill Leeper stated. He emphasized that their deputies acted swiftly and noted that thankfully, no one was seriously hurt.

Although the victim chose not to press charges, both Mabius and the woman were charged with simple battery and resisting without violence.

Mabius is known for his roles in shows like “Ugly Betty” and several Hallmark movies, showcasing his extensive acting career.
