“Austin Peay Teams Up with Local Churches to Innovate Mental Health Solutions at Upcoming Conference – Discover More on ClarksvilleNow.com”

Austin Peay State University (APSU) is hosting the Mental Health and the Ministry Conference on August 1-2. They are teaming up with Whispers Beyond Silence (WBS), a group of churches from across the state, to support this important event.

This two-day event will take place at the Morgan University Center on campus. From 1 to 5 p.m. on August 1 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 2, mental health professionals will work alongside religious leaders to provide valuable insights.

“Many in our community struggle to find mental health support. Training church leaders is a great way to fill that gap,” said Dr. Debra Rose Wilson, Chair of Excellence in the School of Nursing. This conference aims to blend spiritual care with mental health resources, making a real difference.

Attendees will explore various topics, including depression, anxiety, trauma, youth mental health, and addiction. They will learn practical skills for mental health assessment and find ways to work effectively with healthcare providers.

This conference welcomes pastors, ministers, bishops, and church counselors. Space is limited to 200 participants, so early registration is encouraged. The fee is $75 per person.

The main goals of the conference are:

  • To enhance mental health awareness among church leaders.
  • To share evidence-based insights on mental health issues and treatments.
  • To build strong partnerships between religious communities and healthcare providers.
