Unlocking the Vision Pro Experience: Now Easier to Share with Guests & Introducing a Game-Changing iPhone App!

Using a VR headset can be a bit tricky. You have to do everything inside it. But Apple is working on a solution. With visionOS 2.4, they aim to make things smoother. The update will enhance the guest user experience and introduce two new apps to help you explore content, whether you’re wearing the headset or not.

Finding software for the Vision Pro used to mean putting on the headset and searching there. Now, thanks to the update and iOS 18.4, there’s a new Apple Vision Pro app for iOS. This app allows you to browse the visionOS App Store, install apps from your iPhone, and even queue videos for later viewing on the headset. Without this, you’d have to rely on online recommendations or an Apple page listing Vision Pro apps.

Sharing your Vision Pro with others can be a hassle. You usually need to set it up first, but this update makes Guest Mode much simpler. Now, you don’t have to wear the headset to allow someone else to use it. When a guest puts it on, the owner gets a prompt on their iPhone or iPad to switch to guest mode. They can choose which apps the guest can access and even share what they see on a screen, similar to in-store demos by Apple staff.

If someone in your home uses the Vision Pro often, this change should help them jump right in. However, the 30-day limit for saved guest profiles remains, so occasional users will still face some setup each time. Even so, this update improves the sharing experience.

You’ll also have access to your headset’s information, like the serial number, right from the app. No more searching inside the headset or digging through your iPhone’s settings! If you need prescription lenses, you can view and store your App Clip code for ZEISS Optical Inserts in the app, too. The app will automatically download for Vision Pro owners with iOS 18.4, and non-owners can find it in the App Store.

Apple is also launching a new app called Spatial Gallery. It features a curated collection of spatial photos, videos, and panoramas, including behind-the-scenes clips from Apple TV shows like Severance and Shrinking. This app aims to showcase what makes Vision Pro special. It will be available for users when visionOS 2.4 rolls out in April.
