Guzzo Shines with Solo Goal in Harvard’s Narrow 2-1 Defeat Against Union

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Salvatore Guzzo put Harvard on the board, but they lost to Union 2-1 on Friday night. The Crimson had a late lead in the second period, but Union scored two quick goals to secure a vital ECAC victory.

GAME RECAP

Harvard dominated the first period. They were aggressive on both offense and defense, especially during a penalty kill. After the first ten minutes, the Crimson outshot Union 7-1 and finished the period with a total of 15 shots compared to Union’s 4.

The scoring opened at 14:12 in the second period when Guzzo netted a goal, assisted by Lucas St. Louis and Ben MacDonald. This was Guzzo’s second goal against Union and his third goal of the season. However, Union responded quickly, scoring twice within the final two minutes of the period to take a 2-1 lead.

In the third period, both teams had opportunities but failed to score. Harvard pulled its goalie in a last-ditch effort for an equalizer, but could not break through Union’s defense.
