Empowering Albany Youth: Mastering Healthy Lifestyle Choices for a Brighter Future

The Junior League of Albany recently organized a special event called “Kids in the Kitchen” to help families learn about healthy habits. This fun gathering took place on February 22 at the Albany Mall.

Families could visit different stations throughout the mall. One station taught cooking skills, showing how to make quick and healthy snacks. Another station emphasized body positivity and the benefits of staying active. There was even a spot where kids could learn to plant vegetable seeds—something they can carry into their home gardens.

Cat Saunders, one of the event organizers, shared her thoughts: “Our community needs to support the youth in making smart choices. It can be tempting for parents to choose unhealthy options, but we can all work together to encourage healthy eating and exercise.”

Attendees were thrilled to see the mall bustling with activity. Many parents noted that Albany doesn’t often host events focused on children. They praised the Junior League for creating such a unique, free experience for families.

One visitor, Christy Walker, commented, “It’s wonderful to see so many people out with their kids and grandkids. The mall hasn’t had many activities lately, so this is a breath of fresh air.”

Thanks to the positive response from the community, the Junior League of Albany plans to hold similar events in the future.
