At the 56th NAACP Image Awards in Pasadena, California, the historical drama The Six Triple Eight took home two major awards: Outstanding Motion Picture and Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for Kerry Washington. Keke Palmer was also recognized as the Entertainer of the Year during the celebration.

Earlier in the week, the film garnered accolades for Best Motion Picture Ensemble, and Ebony Obsidian won Outstanding Supporting Actress and Outstanding Breakthrough Performance for her role in the film.
Martin Lawrence received the award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for his work in Bad Boys: Ride or Die. The event also honored Kamala Harris with the Chairman’s Award for her contributions.
During her speech, Harris emphasized that the American story is shaped by the people, not just by those in power. Her inspiring words resonated with the crowd, and she received a warm response.
Additionally, comedy legend Dave Chappelle was awarded the NAACP President’s Award, and the Wayans family was inducted into the NAACP Hall of Fame. Jotaka Eaddy was honored with the Mildred Bond Roxborough Social Justice Impact Award at a preceding event.
The awards ceremony marked the end of a week of festivities and was hosted by comedian Deon Cole. It was televised on CBS and BET from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
