The Sigma 300-600mm f/4 DG OS Sports lens is here! Designed for those who love ultra-telephoto photography, this lens combines the best of both worlds: the clarity of a prime lens and the flexibility of a zoom. It’s made for pros who capture fast-moving action in sports and wildlife.
This lens is quite sizable, measuring about 6.6 inches wide and nearly 18.4 inches long, weighing in at a substantial 140.6 ounces. To make handling easier, it features an internal zoom mechanism that keeps the center of gravity steady. Inside, there are 28 elements organized into groups, including special lenses to help reduce distortion. The aperture ranges from f/4 to f/22, thanks to its 13-blade diaphragm.
Crafted from magnesium alloy, the barrel is robust, while the hood is made of carbon. A special thermal insulation paint helps keep it cool, even in sunny weather. Plus, it’s designed to resist dust and water—perfect for outdoor adventures.
Focusing is a breeze with Sigma’s powerful motor, allowing for quick adjustments. Whether you’re snapping photos or shooting video, it locks onto subjects accurately. This lens also offers two stabilization modes: a standard mode for still shots and a specialized one for panning shots, perfect for tracking moving subjects.
The lens has a function ring with different modes. You can set it to jump to a pre-selected focus point or use it for smooth adjustments while filming. Custom buttons let you control various features, ensuring it’s tailored to your shooting style.
For added convenience, there’s a drop-in filter holder compatible with standard filters. Sigma even offers unique circular polarizers and variable ND filters for creative control.
With all these features, this lens is close to a photographer’s dream. It will be available this April for $5,999, in L-mount and Sony E-mount.
