Patrick Mahomes has a lower average but benefits from a different financial setup that gives him a more favorable cash flow.

Although Stafford recently turned 37, he remains a strong player on the field. His performance outshines others of his age, like Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. When you compare him to the top earners, it raises an interesting question: How much should he be making?

Many could argue that Stafford deserves at least as much as Jared Goff, who the Rams were eager to trade. Stafford led the Rams to a Super Bowl victory, while Goff has not. This success might justify a higher salary for Stafford.

However, just because he deserves it doesn’t guarantee someone will pay him that much. The upcoming draft lacks great quarterback options, and the pool of available veterans is limited. With players like Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones in the mix, a team might see Stafford as a valuable investment.
