Discover 32 Stunning Mac-Inspired Physical Icons by Apple Designer Susan Kare

Iconic Apple designer Susan Kare has launched 32 new retro-style icons meant for life beyond the screen. This new “Esc Keys” collection, made in partnership with Asprey Studio, features fun mechanical keyboard keycaps and fashionable pendants, each showcasing charming 8-bit pixel art designs like a puppy, a leafy plant, mail, and a steaming cup of coffee.

Even though these icons are fresh, they echo Kare’s well-known style. She created many of the original icons for the Macintosh operating system, including the cheerful “Happy Mac” boot-up symbol and the floppy disk used for saving files.

Kare and Asprey Studio’s Alastair Walker shared with Fast Company that each new design carries a deeper meaning, representing activities that people love outside of their digital devices. The Esc Keys collection features pieces made from silver or gold-coated silver, and these are available in limited quantities — between 30 to 120 pieces for each design, making them quite special.

Prices begin at $650 for silver keys, with necklace pendants in gold vermeil reaching up to $2,064. There are also solid gold options available by request. Additionally, each item includes a unique blockchain-verified digital artwork, ensuring authenticity and ownership.
