Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kenya, Sultan Hajiyev, recently met with Kenya’s Minister of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, Aden Duale. They discussed the growing partnership between Azerbaijan and Kenya, highlighting opportunities for cooperation.
During the meeting, Hajiyev praised Kenya’s involvement in COP29, which Azerbaijan hosted last year. He pointed out that working together at the upcoming UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) in 2026 and World Environment Day (WED2026) could greatly enhance global efforts in environmental issues.
Minister Duale was pleased with the current relationship between the two countries. He emphasized their shared commitment to explore and expand cooperation further. He also acknowledged Azerbaijan’s success in hosting COP29, calling it a historic moment for implementing key articles of the Paris Agreement.
Furthermore, Duale mentioned the new COP Troika Presidencies format resulting from Azerbaijan’s leadership at COP29. He believes this will greatly advance global climate discussions, setting the stage for more effective collaboration among nations.
