Jay-Z Files Lawsuit Against Woman for Alleged False Rape Accusation: What You Need to Know

Jay-Z is taking legal action against a woman who recently dropped a lawsuit accusing him of rape. He claims she and her lawyers knew their accusations were false. The woman, known as Jane Doe in the legal documents, allegedly admitted to Jay-Z’s representatives that her story about being assaulted at a 2000 MTV afterparty was fake.

The lawsuit, filed in Alabama where she resides, also names her lawyers, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney. Jay-Z’s legal team states that she admitted to fabricating her claims, presenting them as a “false, malicious story.”

In a subsequent interview, she acknowledged that she made “some mistakes” regarding her allegations. For instance, she mentioned her father picking her up after the supposed incident, though he does not recall it. She also claimed to have spoken to a musician at the party, but he was actually on tour during that time.

Because of these developments, Jay-Z’s new lawsuit accuses her of defamation and malicious prosecution, asserting that he faced reputational harm and that his company, Roc Nation, lost over $20 million.

In response, Buzbee dismissed the lawsuit, arguing that it lacks legal merit. He asserted that the quotes in the lawsuit are either fabricated or misattributed. He expressed concern that this is an attempt to intimidate the woman, stating they will not back down from what he calls a frivolous case.

Buzbee is also involved in a separate lawsuit initiated by Jay-Z, who accused him of attempting to extort money in relation to Jane Doe’s allegations. A judge considered dismissing the extortion claims but allowed defamation claims to move forward without a final decision yet.

Recently, Jane Doe revealed in a new affidavit that she was approached at home by two individuals claiming to work for Jay-Z’s attorney. She declined to sign documents renouncing her allegations. She explained that she withdrew her lawsuit out of fear of facing backlash from Jay-Z and his supporters, highlighting concerns about being publicly named and attacked.
