March brings fresh updates for Google’s Pixel devices with another Pixel Feature Drop. This monthly upgrade adds new features, giving Pixel users exciting reasons to stay with Google. For international users eager for AI enhancements, this update shines a light on some appealing new tools, particularly for Pixel 9 owners.

One of the standout additions is that Pixel Studio can now create images of people. This means you can use text prompts to generate portraits, a feature that was previously limited to animals and objects. While I can’t wait to test it out myself, I’m curious to see how it stacks up against Apple’s Image Playground, which also creates images based on your chosen photos. I wonder if Pixel Studio will require you to select a photo from your gallery for the AI to mimic. Each AI tool has its unique style, and it will be interesting to compare them.
Another perk of this update is in Google Messages. The app will now use AI to identify scam texts, similar to how it already alerts you about suspicious calls. It’s helpful for dodging annoying scam messages, like the ones claiming I owe money for tolls (I don’t!).
Sharing your location with friends is getting easier too. Instead of diving through multiple taps in Google Maps, you can now use the Find My Device app. This app lets you not only track your own devices but also see where your friends are on a live map. It’s a feature users of iOS have enjoyed for a while now, and it’s coming to Pixel 6 and up.
For those parked and using Android Auto, there’s news on gaming. This update brings new games to your car’s screen, like Candy Crush Soda Saga and Angry Birds 2. These can add a fun distraction while you wait, but remember, you can’t play them when the car is in motion.
Lastly, Pixel 9 users on Verizon will gain the ability to send emergency messages via satellite, ensuring you can reach help even without cellular or Wi-Fi service. This feature has also started rolling out to more regions, including Canada, Hawaii, and Alaska.
The latest Pixel Feature Drop is already in the process of arriving to users. For more details, you can visit Google’s blog.
