New faces joining the cast include Joe Pantoliano, Alanna Ubach, Ben Ahlers, Hettienne Park, Robert John Burke, and Noah Lamanna. These actors will portray both familiar characters and new ones. Notably, Pantoliano will play Eugene, who is Ellie and Dina’s friend from the games. While Eugene had a brief appearance in The Last of Us Part II, the series plans to give him a more substantial role this time around.

Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann shared that, similar to Bill’s storyline in Season 1, Eugene’s backstory will be explored more deeply in Season 2. “I get excited when I see these opportunities,” Druckmann said. He emphasized that the original game only scratched the surface of Eugene’s character, hinting at a richer narrative that ties closely to Joel and Ellie.

Additionally, Robert John Burke will take on the role of Seth, who is known for his unkind ways in The Last of Us Part II. Noah Lamanna will portray Kat, who has a history with Ellie before the events of the game unfold. Alanna Ubach, Ben Ahlers, and Hettienne Park will introduce new characters named Hanrahan, Burton, and Elise Park, respectively.

The new actors join an impressive lineup, including Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Isabela Merced as Dina, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and Gabriel Luna as Tommy.
