Exciting news! Samsung is set to launch an Android XR headset that could outshine Apple’s Vision Pro, especially in the display department.
According to The Elec, this headset, known as “Project Moohan,” features cutting-edge OLEDOS (OLED on Silicon) technology. It was recently showcased at MWC 2025.
What makes it intriguing? It will sport 1.3-inch panels and boast an impressive 3,800 pixels per inch (PPI). To put that in perspective, most flagship smartphones hover around 500-600 PPI. The Meta Quest 3 offers just over 1,200 PPI, while Apple’s Vision Pro reaches nearly 3,400 PPI. Interestingly, Vision Pro also employs OLEDOS tech, using 1.42-inch panels made by Sony.
However, Samsung’s display won’t quite match a similar-sized Sony panel that exceeds 4,000 PPI. This high-end Sony display is pricier, costing over $1,000 for sample versions, which suggests Samsung’s headset may come with a hefty price tag too. Meanwhile, Apple’s Vision Pro displays reportedly cost around $300 each. Meta is also looking into using OLEDOS but plans to do so more affordably.
Keep an eye out—”Project Moohan” is set to hit the market later this year!
