Meghan Markle Opens Up About Heartfelt Princess Diana Story on ‘Drew Barrymore Show’ – Watch Her Emotional Reaction!

Drew Barrymore recently surprised Meghan Markle with a touching photo of Princess Diana, Meghan’s late mother-in-law.

On Thursday’s episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Meghan talked about her Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” and her revamped lifestyle brand, As Ever. During the chat, Drew revealed a special photo of a young Barrymore meeting Diana.

The black-and-white image captured a young Drew, just 7 years old, presenting her E.T. doll to Princess Diana at the 1982 London premiere of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.”

Meghan’s reaction was heartfelt. “Oh, how sweet! That’s beautiful,” she exclaimed, clearly touched by the memory. “Look at your little face! That is so special.” After handing the frame back to Drew, she shared her appreciation with the audience.

Drew expressed how meeting Princess Diana was a significant moment in her life, saying, “It was the honor of my life.” Meghan responded, “I will tell H that for sure,” referring to her husband, Prince Harry.

This wasn’t the first time Drew has recounted her encounter with Princess Diana. She once called it “the most exciting moment” of her childhood during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” She reminisced, “It was amazing to meet a real-life princess, the People’s Princess. Diana was an inspiration for many girls like me.”

When Jimmy joked about the possibility of Diana giving away the doll, Drew stood firm, stating, “No! You can see how she looked at it. She was so kind.” Drew highlighted how Diana’s open affection for her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, broke royal norms and inspired countless people.

Diana tragically passed away in 1997, leaving a lasting legacy. At the time of her death, she was fondly remembered as “the people’s princess,” a title that reflected her connection with the public. In a tribute, then Prime Minister Tony Blair said, “She was the people’s princess, and that’s how she will remain.”

To honor Diana, Meghan and Harry chose the name “Diana” for their daughter, a meaningful tribute to a remarkable woman who continues to inspire many.
