Slumberzone Expands to India: New Mattress Manufacturing Plant Set to Open in Hyderabad

Slumberzone, a New Zealand-based mattress company, is making its debut in India, coinciding with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s visit to New Delhi. The company is diving into India’s $2.5 billion mattress market and plans to set up its first manufacturing unit in Hyderabad with an investment of ₹100 crores.

Slumberzone aims to provide premium sleep solutions while tapping into India’s manufacturing strengths to serve both local and global markets. The founder of Slumberzone joined a high-level business group accompanying Prime Minister Luxon, highlighting New Zealand’s growing commercial ties with India. Luxon expressed enthusiasm about New Zealand companies expanding in India, noting that this move enhances trade relations and benefits both economies.

Slumberzone has ambitious goals. It intends to challenge China’s hold on the mattress industry by establishing a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in India that emphasizes automation. The first phase involves opening exclusive stores in major Indian cities and building a franchise network while strengthening its online presence. The second phase will focus on entering international markets, including North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

Ranjay Sikka, the Managing Director of Slumberzone NZ, stated that their goal is to deliver a unique product experience to Indian consumers and elevate the Slumberzone brand internationally. Vidhul Sikka, Chief Business Officer of Slumberzone India, added that they aim to offer superior quality and position India as a key player in global mattress exports.

This development reflects broader trends in the manufacturing industry. According to a report by the Indian Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), India’s manufacturing sector is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2025, emphasizing the country’s growing importance in global supply chains.

As brands like Slumberzone enter the market, consumers can expect a diverse range of options, which may lead to increased competition and better quality products. People are already talking about these changes on social media, speculating how new players will influence pricing and availability in the mattress sector.

In summary, Slumberzone’s entry into the Indian market is more than a business expansion. It symbolizes the strengthening trade ties between India and New Zealand and reflects the evolving landscape of global manufacturing.
