The Supreme Court on Monday (December 16, 2024) requested some former bureaucrats and social employees who had filed a petition towards the Parliament of Religions to be held in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, to ship an e mail to get it listed instantly. The petition has been accused of calling for ‘genocide of Muslims’.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, showing for some former bureaucrats who had filed the petition, instructed the bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar that the petition must be listed instantly. CJI Sanjeen Khanna said, ‘I’ll think about it. Please ship e-mail.
Prashant Bhushan said that there was a public name for genocide of Muslims and there may be an pressing want to listen to this petition as a result of the Parliament of Religions will begin from Tuesday. Dharma Sansad is to be organized by Yeti Narasimhanand Foundation from Tuesday to Saturday at the Shiv-Shakti Temple advanced in Dasna, Ghaziabad.
The Supreme Court had directed all competent and applicable authorities to take suo motu motion towards people or teams indulging in communal actions and hate speeches. Activists and former bureaucrats have filed a contempt petition towards the Ghaziabad district administration and Uttar Pradesh Police, accusing them of willful contempt of this order of the Supreme Court.
The petitioners embody activist Aruna Roy, retired IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer Ashok Kumar Sharma, former IFS officers Deb Mukherjee, Navrekha Sharma and others. Controversy had arisen as a consequence of alleged hate speeches being given in the Dharma Sansad held earlier in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. In this case, felony case was initiated towards many individuals together with Yeti Narsimhanand and others.
