Excitement is building for Guilty Gear Strive fans as Venom is set to join the game on March 24, 2025! The announcement came just before the top 8 matches at the Arc World Tour 2024 Finals, accompanied by an engaging gameplay trailer that showcases his unique skills.
Venom introduces an innovative gameplay style involving billiard balls. He places these balls strategically on the screen and uses a cue to send them bouncing around, creating unpredictable setups. It looks like he has some moves borrowed from Robo-Ky, a character from earlier in the Guilty Gear series. This mix of familiar and new elements is sure to keep players on their toes!
Visually, Venom has had a makeover. Gone are his classic tight clothes; he now sports a more casual fit with a shirt, jacket, and looser pants—definitely a fresh update for the character.
The production team, led by Ken Miyauchi, shared some exciting updates alongside the Venom reveal. Starting in May 2025, players can look forward to detailed frame data in training mode. This feature is a big deal because it will allow players to analyze and improve their strategies more effectively.
But that’s not all. A ranked match update is also on the horizon, set to launch between June and August 2025. This will change how players can compete online, allowing matchmaking without entering lobbies. Ranks will be character-specific, so players will need to focus on their chosen fighter to climb the ranks.
Looking ahead, another original character named Unika is coming in May, plus Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgerunners is scheduled for the summer. Unika will even be available for early play at Evo Japan 2025 from May 9-11, giving players a chance to experience her firsthand.
