Joe Gatto Steps Back from Tour to Focus on Healing: Inside His Decision to Enter Inpatient Treatment Amid Misconduct Allegations

In a recent statement, Gatto shared, “Having taken some time to reflect, I’ve decided to voluntarily enter an inpatient program to continue working on myself. I thank my friends, fans, and especially my family for their support during this time.”

His decision to seek treatment comes after a TikTok user, who identifies as joozyb, claimed he sexually assaulted her when she was 19. She said the incident happened in September 2023 after one of his shows in Milwaukee. In her video, she expressed surprise that her story gained so much attention after she had been sharing her experience for over a year.

Gatto responded to the allegations, admitting his past poor judgment but firmly denying any assault. He stated, “Anyone who knows me knows I wouldn’t assault anyone. I am taking time away from the public eye to focus on myself.”

Another woman, a former employee, also accused Gatto of inappropriate behavior. She described how, after meeting him at age 15, his conduct became more suggestive as she turned 18. She recounted instances where he allegedly made unwanted advances, like asking for back massages and inviting her to his hotel room.

The situation surrounding Gatto highlights an alarming trend in the entertainment industry, where allegations of misconduct have come to the forefront in recent years. Research shows that around 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men have experienced sexual assault at some point in their lives. This statistic reflects the urgent need for dialogue and change in how such issues are addressed.

In light of these events, public reactions have been mixed. On social media, discussions mostly revolve around support for the victims and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions. The incident also brings to mind the #MeToo movement, which encouraged many to share their stories of harassment and assault.

In these challenging times, it’s crucial to support those impacted by such experiences. Organizations like RAINN (National Sexual Assault Hotline) provide essential resources for survivors. If you or someone you know is affected, help is available through their hotline at 800-656-HOPE (4673) or through their online chat hotline.

As this story unfolds, it reminds us of the importance of addressing behavior that harms others, and of the need for healing and accountability in both personal and public spaces.
