Josh Patten, a writer for Saturday Night Live, had some fun with Morgan Wallen’s Instagram post after the country star’s sudden exit from the show. Wallen performed two songs from his upcoming album, I’m the Problem, on Saturday night, including the title track and “Just in Case.”

As the show wrapped up, Wallen stood next to guest host Mikey Madison, who recently won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Anora. Madison expressed her gratitude, saying, “I had a wonderful time, thank you all,” as the credits rolled. Wallen then hugged her and whispered something before leaving the stage unexpectedly.
Later, he posted a photo on Instagram of what seemed to be a private jet on the runway, captioning it with “Get me to God’s country.” Patten playfully responded by sharing a picture of a Krispy Kreme truck with the same caption. After a media outlet highlighted this exchange, Patten shared an eye-roll emoji and added a screenshot of his Apple Music playlist for 2023, featuring Wallen’s songs.
Wallen hasn’t clarified what he meant with his post, and there’s been no official response from him or the SNL team. This appearance was significant for Wallen, as it marked his first return to the show since a controversy where he was filmed using a racial slur. After that incident, he faced backlash, including radio stations pulling his music and being excluded from major awards shows despite being nominated. Nevertheless, Wallen has maintained his status as one of country music’s leading figures.
In a March 2023 survey by Billboard, 62% of country music fans reported a strong interest in Wallen’s work, highlighting his lasting popularity despite past controversies. His album I’m the Problem is set for release on May 16, and anticipation is high among both fans and critics.
