Nintendo has announced some exciting features coming to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom with their Switch 2 Editions. One major addition is the ability to repair weapons, which has been a hot topic among fans.

In the original games, players faced a durability system where weapons broke after extended use. This frustrated many who had favorite weapons they couldn’t hold onto. Now, with the new Zelda Notes app, players can enjoy weapon repairs. The app will offer random daily bonuses, including repairs, health recovery, and energy cell recharges, as noted by YouTuber Zeltik.
While Tears of the Kingdom has a repair feature through Rock Octoroks, it has limitations. Rock Octoroks can only restore one item once, and they don’t work with amiibo-supported weapons. The new app broadens these possibilities, making weapon management much easier.
Beyond repairs, Zelda Notes brings other fun features. It includes a GPS-like function to help find shrines and hidden Koroks, along with commentary from Princess Zelda—something the original games lacked. Players can also look forward to an achievements system and item sharing, enhancing the overall experience.
With the launch set for June 5, 2025, fans are anticipating these upgrades. Interestingly, the upgrade content will be included on the physical game cartridges, clearing up previous confusion about content access.
This update comes amid growing discussions about game longevity and player attachment to in-game items. According to a recent survey conducted by GamePlayer Insights, 68% of gamers expressed frustration over weapon durability systems in action-adventure games. The introduction of weapon repairs could significantly address these concerns, leading to a more enjoyable gaming experience.
As the gaming landscape evolves, players increasingly seek deeper connections with the worlds they explore. Nintendo seems to be listening, and fans will be watching closely to see how these changes impact their beloved Zelda adventures.
