Science Saturday features engaging activities organized by VSU’s departments, including Applied Mathematics and Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Geosciences, and Computer Science and Engineering Technology. You can dive into exciting hands-on experiences like the Fingerprint Maze, Name That Frog, and Mathematical Puzzles—just to name a few. These activities encourage exploration and learning, promoting a love for science in our community.

The initiative is part of VSU’s broader STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program, aiming to support students and inspire the next generation of innovators. In recent years, studies have shown that boosting engagement in STEM fields is crucial. According to the National Science Foundation, STEM jobs are projected to grow by 8% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than other sectors. This emphasis on early education in these areas helps secure a skilled workforce for the future.

While you enjoy the activities, VSU faculty are dedicated to enhancing STEM education for students from preschool through college. Their goal is to ensure that all students, especially those historically underrepresented in these fields, receive the support they need to thrive.

Parking for the event is simple. You can find convenient lots along Georgia Avenue without needing a VSU parking permit.

Mark your calendars for a fantastic day of discovery at Science Saturday. It’s a great chance to foster curiosity and gain valuable knowledge.
