Thrilling Matchup: SCSU Women’s Lacrosse Faces Defeat Against Bentley, 18-12 – Latest Game Highlights

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Southern Connecticut women’s lacrosse team faced a tough loss against #20 Bentley University, ending up with an 18-12 score on Wednesday night. This brings the Owls’ overall record to 8-6, while the Falcons improved to 10-4.

Allie Welder shone for the Owls, scoring a career-high four goals. Jordan Fisher and Allie Palmer contributed significantly, each netting three goals and tallying multiple points. Macy Vail scored twice and assisted on another goal. In goal, Caelan Connors made five saves.

Connors and Welder each picked up two ground balls, while Breya Montague, Amelia Mansfield, Auserehl Mazzuli, and Welder caused turnovers. Mansfield led the team with four draw controls, supported by Abigail Nolan, Bailey McDermott, and Vail, who all won two draws.

The game began as a fierce showdown. Bentley struck first, but Southern quickly tied it thanks to Vail’s free-position goal. By halftime, both teams were locked at 5-5.

The third quarter saw Bentley pull ahead again, scoring multiple times to take a commanding 14-6 lead. Southern made a valiant effort in the fourth quarter, with contributions from Palmer, Welder, and Fisher, but Bentley’s consistent scoring secured their win.

Despite the loss, the Owls showed resilience and will look to bounce back in their next game against #10 Adelphi University on Saturday, April 19, at Jess Dow Field.
