Mirza pointed out that global greenhouse gas emissions hit an all-time high in 2022. To keep the world from warming over the dangerous 1.5°C limit, we need to cut emissions by 42% by 2030.

In a touching Instagram video, she urged us all to take immediate and united action. Dia emphasized that Earth Day should not just be a moment to reflect but a call to ongoing, meaningful change.

She said, “This Earth Day, let’s move beyond just talk and into action. The latest UNEP findings are a wake-up call we can’t ignore. Urban areas produce 70% of CO2, yet only 29% of our energy comes from renewable sources. Fossil fuels still dominate, while climate-related disasters keep increasing.”

Mirza insists on a clear path: we need to triple our renewable energy capacity by 2030. Clean cities and green choices should be our focus, with policies grounded in science. Everyone can contribute to this shift by adopting sustainable practices and demanding accountability from leaders.

Earth Day, celebrated each year on April 22, has been a global movement for environmental awareness since it began in 1970. It symbolizes a worldwide commitment to protecting our planet.

To reinforce the urgency of this situation, a recent study found that nearly 74% of people now prioritize climate action, showing a rising awareness among the public. Social media platforms are buzzing with users sharing their eco-friendly habits and pushing for greener policies. This growing sentiment suggests that more individuals are realizing how their choices can impact the environment.

By fostering a culture of accountability and education, we can inspire change. As Dia Mirza reminds us, “Let Earth Day be your starting point—not just a reminder. Together, we can shape a sustainable future.”
