Allowances of IAS officer

  • Dearness Allowance (DA):

  • Travelling Allowance (TA):
    IAS officers get traveling allowance for official tours. This includes both domestic and international travel.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA):
    House Rent Allowance is given to those officers who are unable to get government accommodation. It has different categories. This allowance depends on the city. Usually it ranges from 8 to 24 percent of the basic salary.

Many other benefits are available
Apart from TA, DA, and HRA, IAS officers also get many other benefits like security and domestic help based on threat perception, drivers for official purposes. Including conveyance, pension benefits and retirement allowances. The annual salary increase of an IAS officer is in line with the promotion and seniority order. The promotion of these officers is time bound or based on performance.

Cabinet Secretaries are eligible for diplomatic passports
The salary of Cabinet Secretary is Rs 2,50000. TA, DA and other allowances are not included in this. Including all the allowances, he gets a salary of around Rs 5,60,000 per month. The official residence of the Cabinet Secretary is Type-8 Bungalow on Prithviraj Road. Cabinet Secretaries are also eligible for diplomatic passport.
