IOS SAGAR Hits Mauritius: A Boost for Regional Maritime Connections

The Indian Naval Ship Sunayna has made an impressive entry into Port Louis Harbour, marking a key moment in its mission known as IOS SAGAR. This mission aims to enhance maritime security and build partnerships with regional allies, starting with a strong collaboration with Mauritius’s National Coast Guard.

Departing from Karwar on April 5, Sunayna carries 44 naval personnel from nine countries around the Indian Ocean. This includes two officers and six sailors from Mauritius. Such a diverse crew highlights the Indian Navy’s commitment to teamwork and shared knowledge in maritime operations.

INS Sunayna is a Saryu-class Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel, specifically designed for anti-piracy, maritime surveillance, and humanitarian assistance. Its modern systems, including advanced gunnery and electronic warfare capabilities, enhance its operational readiness. Notably, it also has an onboard helicopter, expanding its versatile support for various missions.
