10 Effective Strategies to Reduce Waste and Boost Green Spaces: Your Guide to a Greener Future

A training course on how to reduce waste and boost green spaces was held in Da Nang recently. Organized by the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations and other local groups, the event aimed to inspire young people, especially students, to recognize the impact of waste on health and the environment.

Supported by Pacific Environment Viet Nam and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the workshop focused on teaching practical strategies for waste reduction and enhancing green areas in communities. Participants explored ways to create a cleaner, healthier environment in their schools and neighborhoods.

During the event, ten promising projects were chosen for technical and financial support to help implement these initiatives. Nguyen Dinh Phuc, the Permanent Vice President of the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations, highlighted the importance of these efforts. He noted that previous workshops have successfully increased awareness and engagement among youth in environmental protection. Statistics show that youth-led initiatives have significantly reduced waste in several districts.

Local youth organizations have already launched effective campaigns. Examples include students pledging to reduce plastic waste and taking part in community beautification projects along rivers and lakes. Nguyen Duy Thanh, from the municipal Youth Federation, expressed optimism about the future, stating that ongoing efforts would keep raising awareness and mobilizing youth for environmental causes.
