Interestingly, Hudson isn’t mentioned in the book’s initial acknowledgments, which are reserved for Belichick’s family and godfather. However, he does recognize Hudson later in the book as his “idea mill” and “creative muse.”

The segment showed Hudson stepping in during an interview when she felt the conversation veered off course. Belichick admitted that Hudson, who shares both a personal and professional relationship with him, was trying to keep the interview focused. He emphasized that they had openly discussed how they met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021.

After the interview aired, Hudson shared a video on social media showcasing a book she was reading on that flight, along with a note Belichick wrote her. She also revealed an email from Belichick expressing frustration over how some interviews seem to focus on sensationalism rather than substance.

Belichick’s publisher, Inkwell Management, responded to the backlash, stating that the segment led to negative reactions about his personal life. They stressed that Belichick’s book should be evaluated on its merits, rather than the media’s drive for views.

Hudson has been closely associated with Belichick since he joined North Carolina. She has been active in his professional affairs, even influencing NFL Films’ decision to withdraw from a project focused on Belichick’s new role in college football.
