ABSS 2025: Celebrating Five Years of NEP with Bold Reforms and Global Partnerships

The Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025 kicked off in New Delhi today, marking a significant celebration of five years since the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was introduced. Led by Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, this event gathered a diverse group, including policymakers, educators, and students from over 13 states and Union Territories. Several key initiatives launched at ABSS 2025 showcase the ongoing evolution of education:

• A new CBSE regional office was inaugurated in Patna, along with staff quarters across ten states.
• New Kendriya Vidyalayas opened in Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.
• Foundation stones for the new NCERT headquarters in New Delhi and regional education institutes in Nellore were laid.
• The TARA app, powered by AI, assessed reading fluency for over 700,000 students in grades 3-8 across 1,200 schools.

In a historic step toward global engagement in education, four international universities have announced plans to set up campuses in India. They include:

1. Western Sydney University (Australia) in Greater Noida.
2. Victoria University (Australia) in Noida.
3. La Trobe University (Australia) in Bengaluru.
4. University of Bristol (UK) in Mumbai.

Under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), a program for 100,000 students has been launched, focusing on AI and offering stipends to graduates and diploma holders. The government’s budget for this initiative is ₹500 crore, with backing from the private sector.

The event also featured an exhibition highlighting innovative practices in education, focusing on themes like experiential learning and community involvement. There were thematic sessions discussing various subjects, including the importance of local languages in education and leveraging AI in teaching.

This gathering at ABSS 2025 symbolizes a national commitment to a bright educational future for India. Minister Pradhan concluded by urging all stakeholders—from policymakers to classroom teachers—to unite under the transformative vision of NEP 2020 and make education a meaningful journey for every child.
