Join healthcare professionals and community members on January 23 at 1 p.m. ET for ACOG’s 2026 Maternal Health Awareness Day webinar, titled “Holding Ground on Maternal Health.” The event features Dr. Ndidiamaka Amutah-Onukagha as the keynote speaker and Dr. Keith Reisinger-Kindle as a guest speaker.
Dr. Reisinger-Kindle will engage in a conversation about improving access to reproductive healthcare in Illinois, especially after the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. This ruling has sparked debates around maternal care across the country.
Dr. Amutah-Onukagha will highlight the importance of community-driven solutions to enhance maternal health. She is the Julia A. Okoro Professor of Black Maternal Health at Tufts University School of Medicine and leads the Center for Black Maternal Health and Reproductive Justice. Her research focuses on the unique challenges faced by Black women in maternal health, including disparities and infant mortality rates.
Recent studies show that Black women are three to four times more likely to experience severe complications during pregnancy than their white counterparts. Dr. Amutah-Onukagha’s work is vital, addressing these disparities and pushing for meaningful change.
This webinar promises to be an enlightening discussion, reflecting on the evolving landscape of maternal health and the pressing need for equity in healthcare access.
