The conversation about Shedeur Sanders continues as Day 2 of the draft unfolds. Surprisingly, the Colorado quarterback is still without a team, and some speculate he might slip even further.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter floated an interesting theory. He mentioned that teams like the Cowboys, Cardinals, and Seahawks—each already set at quarterback—might consider Sanders. This is surprising because they have not previously shown interest in him.
“I think the Giants, Browns, and Saints are leaning towards other quarterbacks,” Schefter said. “Jaxson Dart seems to be the favorite among them. There’s even buzz around Tyler Shough potentially going ahead of Shedeur.”
Sanders now faces an uncertain future. The Pittsburgh Steelers might draft him at No. 83, but Schefter implied that another team could unexpectedly grab him before then. “There could be a team that didn’t think he would be available,” he noted, pointing out the Seahawks and Cowboys as wild cards.
Recent stats show that while many quarterbacks have been drafted early, Sanders remains a mystery. According to a survey by Pro Football Focus, only 28% of fans believe he will start in the upcoming season. This indicates that teams may have reservations about his readiness for a starting role.
The Saints, holding the 40th overall pick, could be the deciding factor for Sanders. However, their attention might lean towards Shough, who has gained traction recently.
Given the current atmosphere, it’s unclear if any of the teams that Schefter mentioned are willing to take on the potential media circus surrounding Sanders. With the draft still ongoing, there’s a possibility that Sanders’ slide may continue into the later rounds.
