Addressing Food Insecurities: How Big Brothers Big Sisters Make a Difference in Communities – An In-Depth Look by Civic Media

Delorean Walls is back in the studio to talk about a pressing issue: food insecurity in Northeast Wisconsin. Shockingly, about one in three people in this region struggles to get enough food. To tackle this issue, Delorean has partnered with Feeding America for several key events aimed at raising awareness and collecting food.

One important event coming up is the Packers Superfan Food Drive at 1st and Goal in Green Bay on April 23, from 7-10 PM. He’ll also participate in Advocacy Day in Madison, focusing on food security.

Another spotlight was on Greta Gaworek and Sarah Kubiak from Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin. Their organization continually seeks volunteers, known as "bigs." They are currently promoting the Big Draft 25, aiming to recruit 10,000 "bigs" in 60 days. Locally, they need just 32 more to contribute to this national goal.

Food insecurity is not just a local challenge; it’s a nationwide issue. According to Feeding America, more than 38 million Americans live in food-insecure households.
