BENGALURU- An Air India Express flight from Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru to Visakhapatnam had to turn back due to technical issues on January 25, 2025.

This flight, identified as IX2563, typically operates daily using an Airbus A320. It took off at 4:46 AM UTC. Shortly after climbing to 20,000 feet, the crew noticed some technical problems. They stopped the ascent and communicated with air traffic control, deciding to return to Bengaluru safely.
Instead of continuing to Visakhapatnam, the flight landed back at Kempegowda International Airport at 5:27 AM UTC, or 10:57 AM local time. Fortunately, the crew did not declare an emergency, but they took necessary precautions to prioritize safety.
The aircraft involved in this incident is an Airbus A320-200, registered as VT-ATF. Officials did not disclose further details about the technical issues, but they confirmed that the landing was precautionary.
This isn’t the first time Air India Express faced such a situation. On January 3, 2024, a flight heading to Dubai had to make an emergency landing at Kozhikode International Airport due to serious landing gear problems. After taking off, the crew noticed a malfunction that made the proper deployment of the landing gear impossible, prompting a swift response to ensure safety.
The pilot coordinated with the airport’s emergency services, which were prepared for the landing. The Boeing 737-800 aircraft landed safely, and after addressing the mechanical issues, it later resumed its journey to Dubai, albeit with a delay of two hours.
Incidents like these highlight the importance of swift action and safety protocols in aviation. While technical issues can be concerning, the priority is always to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
