This week’s wrestling segment didn’t stand out much, but AJ Styles’ moment was worth discussing. WWE knows how to craft a compelling video package, and they hit it out of the park for AJ, who made his name globally before dominating WWE for a decade. The song “Higher” by Creed brought back nostalgia, but it also seemed to fit AJ’s journey perfectly.
However, one missed opportunity was showcasing Frankie Kazarian and Abyss backstage without involving them in the main event. AJ had acknowledged them in his speech, which made it feel off.
AJ also shared his reasoning for not leaving his gloves behind at the Royal Rumble. He suggested he wanted to honor something significant happening in Atlanta. While I doubt this was the original plan, it added a nice touch to the moment. He reflected on his career and its impact on his role as a father. Being away so often, he felt he missed much of his children’s lives, viewing special moments through a screen instead of being present. This theme is important in wrestling, where the grind often overshadows personal life, and AJ’s honesty resonates.
Does he plan to wrestle again? He claims he’s sticking to his word, which hints that this might be the end for him. But it’s hard to say for certain.
The segment wrapped up with the Undertaker arriving on his motorcycle, announcing AJ’s induction into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame. That’s a big deal, especially for someone who started in TNA and made a mark in WWE.
Overall, the episode felt a bit lackluster. Liv Morgan and Stephanie Vaquer delivered great performances, despite Stephanie’s entrance music lacking energy. However, the night seemed more routine than exciting, especially with upcoming events like Elimination Chamber. Unfortunately, Bronson Reed’s injury could shift plans, and we’re all rooting for his quick recovery.
