MOSCOW (AP) — The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has lifted its tsunami warning for Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula after five strong earthquakes, the largest measuring 7.4, shook the region on Sunday.

The strongest quake struck at a depth of 20 kilometers (about 12 miles) and was located 144 kilometers (89 miles) east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a city with around 180,000 residents, as noted by the U.S. Geological Survey. In total, aftershocks have been numerous, with local geologists indicating that over two dozen smaller quakes occurred, though their intensity has been decreasing.
