Alonso, now 30, launched his 26th homer of the season in the second inning against Brewers pitcher Tobias Myers. The ball flew 413 feet to left-center, giving the Mets an early lead. It was a big moment for Alonso, who has bounced back from a rough patch, hitting four homers in just eight games after ending an 0-for-19 slump on August 1.

Alonso, who has played 963 games so far, has also set a team record by appearing in 370 games in a row. It’s worth noting that the Diamondbacks and Padres have yet to see a player break the 252 mark for their franchises, with Luis Gonzalez holding Arizona’s record at 224 and Machado at 187 for San Diego.
