An American woman detained in Afghanistan by the Taliban has been set free after several weeks in custody. Faye Dail Hall was taken in February for allegedly using a drone without permission. The release was part of a deal facilitated by negotiators from Qatar.

Reports indicate that Hall is currently safe and has been moved to the Qatari Embassy in Kabul. Arrangements are being made for her return to the United States. Zalmay Khalilzad, a former U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, shared her release on social media, stating she will soon be heading home.

In a recent statement, a Taliban official noted that the U.S. had lifted bounties on key Taliban figures, including the interior minister. This change has been interpreted as a sign that both sides are attempting to improve their relationship post-conflict.
