Apple Launches Enhanced iPad Air: What to Expect Before the MacBook Air Upgrade

Apple made headlines this Tuesday with the launch of the new iPad Air, generating lots of excitement online. There’s buzz that another big announcement may come soon.

CEO Tim Cook hinted at significant product news “this week” in a post on X, featuring a video with the line “There’s something in the air.”

The upgraded iPad Air now features Apple’s powerful M3 chip, which is a step up from the M2 chip in the last model.

This new iPad Air runs almost twice as fast as the previous M1 version released in 2022, according to Apple’s press release.

The starting price for the 11-inch iPad Air M3 is $599, while the larger 13-inch version is priced at $799. Deliveries are set to begin on March 12.

Apple noted that the new iPad is “built for Apple Intelligence,” showcasing its AI features.

Alongside the iPad, Apple revealed the new “Magic Keyboard” accessory. They also launched a budget-friendly base iPad starting at $349, which won’t support the Apple Intelligence features.

While Apple’s stock remained steady during Tuesday’s trading, Cook’s teasing message sparked speculation about the potential reveal of a refreshed MacBook Air featuring the new M4 chip.

Some fans joked about Cook’s post, even suggesting it might mean an Apple Air Fryer was on the way!

The new M4 chip is expected to enhance Apple’s AI capabilities, providing faster graphics and processing speeds. Apple released the MacBook Air with an M3 chip just last year.

Tech journalist Mark Gurman, known for his Apple insights, hinted that details about the MacBook Air M4 could be unveiled as soon as Wednesday.

The MacBook Air M4 is likely to feature better external display support, longer battery life, and an upgraded camera, according to the tech blog 9to5 Mac.

It will be available in both 13-inch and 15-inch options.

In addition to the iPad announcements, last month Apple revealed a new $599 version of its iPhone, the iPhone 16e, as a strategy to stay competitive against Chinese brands.

With strong iPad sales exceeding $8 billion during the holiday quarter, Apple aims to keep the momentum going.
