This feature aims to combat stealthy thefts where criminals watch users enter their passcodes. With the suggested lock in place, even if a thief has your iPhone, they won’t easily get into sensitive apps or information.
Interestingly, Android devices already have a similar feature known as Theft Detection Lock, which activates in similar situations. There’s no timeline yet on when Apple plans to roll out this new feature.
