Apple Music Unveils Plans for Exciting New Studio in Culver City

Apple Music is gearing up to launch a new three-story studio in Culver City this summer. This space will feature a large 4,000-square-foot soundstage for live performances and fan events. Rachel Newman, co-head of Apple Music, expressed excitement, saying they aim to provide a place where artists can create and connect.

Spanning over 15,000 square feet, the studio will include two radio studios for interviews and live performances, a mixing room for spatial audio, and private booths for songwriting and podcasting. The building, located in the creative Hayden Tract neighborhood, was designed by Los Angeles architect Eric Owen Moss, known for his unique structures.

This new addition is part of Apple’s ongoing effort to expand its presence in the entertainment industry. The company is also constructing a new office complex in the area to support the Apple TV+ streaming service.

As technology evolves—especially with the rise of artificial intelligence—companies like Apple emphasize their commitment to supporting creativity. This follows a challenging past year, where an advertisement showcasing an iPad Pro crushing musical instruments drew criticism for seeming to portray technology as a threat to creativity. Apple quickly issued an apology, acknowledging the backlash.

The Culver City studio will join Apple Music’s global network of creative hubs, with existing locations in New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, and Nashville. Additional studios are in the pipeline.

In light of its 10-year anniversary, Apple Music also announced exciting features, including a countdown of the top 500 most-streamed songs starting July 1 and a “Replay All Time” playlist for users to enjoy their favorite tracks from over the years.

The growth of Apple in the entertainment space is significant. Statistics show that nearly 88% of music fans are eager for exclusive live performances from artists, reflecting a growing desire for immersive experiences. By launching this studio, Apple is tailoring its services to meet this demand, aiming to create a vibrant platform for both creators and fans.

In summary, the new studio represents Apple’s investment in the music industry and its commitment to fostering creativity in an ever-changing digital landscape.
