The most common violations included foreign objects in food (9 cases), improper food handling (4), and staff neglecting to wear proper sanitation gear (2). In one disturbing example, customers found solid debris in their drinks, highlighting a serious disregard for cleanliness.

Critics point out that simply blaming employee mistakes isn’t enough. These rest areas serve thousands of travelers daily, so high hygiene standards are crucial. With busy travel seasons like Chuseok approaching, the risk of unsafe practices increases. Many worry that the lack of repeat customers might lead some staff to overlook safety procedures.

A recent survey found that 78% of travelers expressed concern over food safety at rest areas. In response, there’s a growing demand for stricter regulations and unannounced inspections to ensure diners can enjoy their meals without worry.
